Puntland judge, lawmaker killed

MOGADISHU, Somalia, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Armed gunmen in separate incidents shot and killed officials in Bosaso and Garowe in Somalia's Puntland region, officials said Thursday.

In Bosaso, armed gunmen ambushed and killed Sheik Mohamed Abdi Aware, a judge in Puntland, as he was leaving a mosque following evening prayers, Shabelle Media Network reported.

Security forces in Bosaso arrested three suspects in with Aware's death, Garowe Online Web site reported. The three men were caught shortly after the shooting incident Wednesday night.

In Garowe, witnesses said a masked group killed Ibrahim Elmi Warsame, a member of parliament, Shabelle said. Law enforcement personnel were searching for suspects
