Kidnapped journalist freed in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- A Norwegian freelance journalist taken hostage in Afghanistan a week ago was set free Thursday by his captors, authorities in Kabul said.

Pal Refsdal, 46, and his translator who was also kidnapped last Friday, are said to be in in good condition and are now in the care of health personnel in a secure place, officials said.

Their captors were believed linked to the Taliban, The Norwegian Broadcasting Corp.said.

Refsdal was working on a documentary about Afghanistan for a Norwegian film production company when he and his translator were grabbed.
