MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The University of Minnesota has confirmed that basketball forward Royce White is under investigation in connection with a campus burglary.

A university spokesman Tuesday night said White was among possible suspects in the incident in which a laptop computer was allegedly stolen from a young woman's dorm room during the weekend.

The investigation comes as White faces charges of assault and shoplifting stemming from a confrontation with a store security guard at the Mall of America last month.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune said Wednesday that while White was the Gophers' most promising freshman recruit, coach Tubby Smith has benched him until further notice.
