LAS VEGAS, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Twenty-one-year-old Joe Cada has become the youngest player in the history of the World Series of Poker to win the Main Event in Las Vegas, event officials say.

Cada staged a remarkable comeback early Tuesday to beat Darvin Moon after holding less than than 1 percent of the chips with seven players remaining and winning the $8.5 million Main Event, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

The newspaper said Cada, a slight favorite, beat Moon at about 1:30 a.m., putting him all in with pocket nines pre-flop. Moon reportedly made the call with a queen and jack of diamonds.

"I thought he had queens at first when he turned it over," Cada told the Sun. "Then, when I saw it was queen-jack, it was one of those things like 'OK, if I win, I win. If I lose, I lose.'"

But, the newspaper reported, no queens, jacks or diamonds hit the board and Cada won, with his friends swarming him on the Rio All-Suite Casino's Penn & Teller Theater stage.
