CALGARY, Alberta, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Two Canadians who just completed a trip around the world on two wheels said they "had some major mishaps" but "every day was an adventure."
Tim Dzaman, 42, and Cory Hanson, 32, of Calgary set out on their trek July 12. They traveled through 17 countries and notched 18,000 miles in an adventure they spent a year planning, the Calgary Herald reported Monday.
They started in Calgary heading for Vancouver, and from there flew to Korea to catch a boat to Russia and continue their circumnavigation. The bikes were shipped across ocean portions, the Herald said.
They camped when possible, made roadside repairs when necessary, and had their fair share of crashes and breakdowns.
"When we got on the road, we had some major mishaps, we had some crashes, but that was part of the trip," Dzaman said. "Every day was an adventure."
The "incredible people" they met were the highlight of the trip, Dzaman said.
"One of the things we learned ... was if we didn't see a way out of a situation, we'd just have to wait a few minutes and someone would come along and help," he said.
