LA MASSANA, Andorra, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- The government of the tiny country of Andorra has begun investigating a bridge collapse that killed five workers, officials said.
The concrete road bridge was still under construction when it collapsed on Saturday, Euronews.net reported.
Rescue workers searched for victims buried in the rubble. One worker pulled from the rubble alive later died in a local hospital, officials confirm.
The accident was close to the town of La Massana. Andorra is in the eastern Pyrenees mountains, bordered by Spain and France.
"We are going to carry out all the investigations needed to find out the cause of the accident.'' Andorra's head of government Jaume Bartumeu said.
Six other workers were injured in the collapse. Most of the victims were Portuguese nationals, authorities said.
