HANOI, Vietnam, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Mirinae has caused two deaths and three injuries in Vietnam, officials said Tuesday.

One person was also reported missing in the central province of Binh Dinh as the storm came ashore, knocking out power to large parts of the region, the Vietnam News Service reported.

Officials said heavy rains in Binh Dinh province swept one man away and injured two others, also destroying 186 houses and damaging rice and cereal crops. Weather forecasters said the storm produced wind gusts of 83 mph and created choppy seas from Quang Nam province to Binh Thuan province.

They said the storm was expected to be downgraded to a tropical depression Tuesday.
