THE HAGUE, Netherlands, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Serbia and The Netherlands are still at odds over whether Serbia is cooperating fully with The Hague war crimes tribunal, a Serbian official says.
Dragoljub Micunovic, the founder of Serbia's Democratic party, issued that appraisal during a visit to the Netherlands and talks with parliamentary members, the Serbian news organization B92 reported Friday.
"Cooperation and goals are being mixed up here," Micunovic said.
Micunovic said the fact that suspected war criminals Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic haven't been arrested yet doesn't mean that Serbia is not cooperating.
"You can't tell someone they're not working because they haven't finished working," he said.
The Hague tribunal was set up to prosecute serious crimes committed during the wars in the former Yugoslavia.
Because it does not have its own police force, the tribunal must rely on the former Yugoslav republics or international peace forces to make arrests.
