KIEV, Ukraine, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The former Ukrainian president said his country should have a more global outlook and not focus only on the West.

Leonid Kuchma spoke Thursday on a Moscow-Kiev-Chisinau-Tbilisi satellite link-up, RIA Novosti reported.

He said the Ukrainian view is that Russia is an enemy.

Kuchma served as Ukrainian president from July 1994 to January 2005. He was second president of the independent republic.
