June 26 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama may have airborne on Air Force One headed for Africa, but he took the time to call the victorious couples who were the face of the legal challenge to Proposition 8.

Hollingsworth v. Perry plaintiffs Kristen Perry and Sandra Stier were being interviewed live by MSNBC when Human Rights Campaign president Chad Griffin came over with his cell phone.

"The president's on the line from Air Force One!" Griffin said, putting Obama on speaker.

Paul Katami and Jeffrey Zarrillo, the other plaintiff couple joined them on air, thanking Obama and even inviting him to their wedding.
