Threats made towards more Bardstown officers

Three weeks after a Bardstown, Ky. police officer was shot to death, the department has received threats that more officers will be killed.

Chief Rick McCubbin said Monday night he received a letter addressed to him that said "there were more officers that would go down like the first one."

McCubbin, who received the letter last Thursday, explained that he's been asked by the FBI and the Kentucky Police Department to not reveal the exact wording of the letter. He added that he's received at least more threat over the phone.

“There’s nothing that we can really sink our teeth into or know who’s making them.”

Officer Jason Ellis, 33, was shot to death on May 25 after he stopped on the Bluegrass Parkway on his way home to remove three tree limbs that were on the road.

Officials believe the limbs were purposefully placed on the road to ambush Ellis.
