BROOKLINE, Mass., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A former Massachusetts rabbi was arraigned Wednesday on charges he sexually assaulted two 11-year-old students 34 years ago, court papers showed.

Stanley Z. Levitt, 63, of Philadelphia was a teacher at Maimonides School in Brookline, Mass., when he allegedly assaulted the boys in 1975, the Boston Herald reported. He was indicted last month by a Suffolk County grand jury on four counts of indecent assault and battery on a minor.

Levitt was released on $5,000 bail following his arraignment in Suffolk Superior Court, the newspaper said.

One of the incidents allegedly occurred at Children's Hospital in Boston where the boy was recuperating after an accident. Another 11-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted during a three-night visit to Levitt's home, prosecutors said.

In 2001, Levitt pleaded no contest in Pennsylvania to charges of indecent assault and corrupting a minor. Charges of indecent exposure and endangering the welfare of a child were dropped.

Trial was set for July 12, 2010.
