JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings is splitting up with his teenage wife after seven months of marriage, attorneys for the Florida couple say.

Lawyers for Ronald and Misty Cummings indicate a divorce is imminent but will not say when the papers will be filed, The (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union reported Wednesday.

Attorney Brandon Beardsley, who represents Ronald Cummings, 25, says the heartbreak of a missing child and the intense media scrutiny surrounding it placed too much strain on the marriage.

The lawyer for Misty Cummings, 17, has confirmed the marriage is on the rocks.

The two wed in March, just one month after Haleigh disappeared from her father's home in Satsuma while under the care of his future wife.

Efforts to locate Haleigh have so far proved unsuccessful.
