ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Police say they're investigating the death of a Pennsylvania woman who was apparently killed by her pet bear.
State Police confirmed Kelly Ann Walz, 37, of Ross Township, Pa., died Sunday while feeding and cleaning out the cage of her pet 350 pound black bear, which attacked her, WFMZ-TV, Allentown, Pa., reported.
Authorities told the broadcaster the bear wasn't the only exotic animal on the property, located in Monroe County about 35 miles north of Allentown. The woman also kept a lion and a Bengal tiger, they said.
A Pennsylvania Game Commission official told WFMZ Walz had a permit to keep the animals and regularly passed inspections.
A neighbor told the station authorities killed the bear after discovering the mauling.
