Tremor shakes Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- No casualties were reported Sunday from a 6.2-magnitude earthquake felt throughout much of Taiwan, authorities said.

The earthquake centered off Hualien in eastern Taiwan hit at 1:36 a.m., Xinhua, China's state-run news agency reported.

The tremor originated at a depth of about 6.2 miles and was located at 23.7 degrees north latitude and 121.6 degrees east longitude, China's seismological network reported.
