TEHRAN, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency was in Tehran Saturday to learn more about Iran's newly revealed atomic enrichment plant, officials said.
Mohamed ElBaradei, general director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, was to meet with Iranian leaders to establish a timetable for inspectors to visit the plant, CNN reported.
ElBaradei did not plan to visit any atomic facilities in Iran during his visit, authorities said.
Iran last week informed ElBaradei's office of an atomic enrichment plant near Qom after western intelligence sources revealed the plant's existence. Iranian leaders said they would cooperate with the IAEA and invite inspectors to tour the facility.
France, Britain and the United States threatened further sanctions against Iran for building and concealing the plant. Leaders of the three counties contend Iran is developing a nuclear weapons program.
Iran maintains its nuclear program is intended to produce energy only.
