SAN DIEGO, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Officials in San Diego are asking for the public's help in identifying who's responsible for the latest in a series of fires along Interstate 5.
Meanwhile, four firefighters were injured in a fire in Fremont, Calif., that broke out Thursday near Niles Canyon, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Officials said three firefighters were taken for medical evaluations Thursday while one, who was struck by falling debris, returned to work.
The cause of the fire, 70 percent contained by Thursday evening, is unknown and under investigation, Cal Fire Capt. Jerry Agenbroad said.
In San Diego, officials said fires set along Interstate 5 caused problems for commuters and firefighters Wednesday, and asked for the public's help to find who is setting them, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Thursday.
About 15 fires have been set along a five-mile stretch of Interstate 5 since July 22, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Maurice Luque said. The unknown arsonist or arsonists are setting oleanders on fire in the median, he said.
"We don't have any conclusive evidence that links all of the fires, but we have reason to believe that they are being intentionally set," the spokesman said.
