FULLERTON, Calif., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- A Southern California judge has scheduled a Dec. 11 sentencing hearing for an Anaheim man who stabbed two patrons at a movie theater.

Steven Robinson, 24, was convicted Tuesday of two counts of attempted murder and two counts of mayhem for the unprovoked attack at a Fullerton theater in February that left two customers injured.

He will face a potential life sentence when he goes before Orange County Superior Court Judge Richard Stanford in December.

The Orange County (Calif.) Register reported the Deputy District Attorney Andrew Katz called Robinson a serial killer in training who collected knives and books about murder and torture.

Robinson had gone to the theater to see the Stephen King chiller "The Signal" but was kicked out for trying to smuggle in alcohol. He was able to sneak in, however, and stabbed the two victims as they watched the movie.

Robinson's public defender argued Robinson was under the heavy influence of alcohol and psychedelic mushrooms at the time.
