PANAMA CITY, Panama, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Former Panamanian President Guillermo Endara, who succeeded Manuel Noriega after Noriega was ousted, has died at age 73, it was reported.
Endara, hospitalized in June because of kidney problems, died in his home in Panama City, CNN reported Tuesday.
Endara won the 1989 election against a candidate backed by Noriega, but Noriega voided the results, denying Endara the presidency. After the United States ousted Noriega in December of that year, Endara was sworn in and served as president until 1994.
He unsuccessfully sought the presidency in 2004 and 2009.
