PALMDALE, Calif., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Four people were killed and a fifth was injured in a two-car crash in Southern California, police said.

All four people riding in an Audi convertible were killed when their car collided with a Cadillac Deville in Palmdale, north of Los Angeles, Saturday night, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday. Both vehicles overturned after the collision.

The dead were identified as Stephen Nubani, 22, of Hollywood, the driver of the Audi, and Rylan Jernigan, 18; Araceli Alvarez, 19; and Cesar Chunga, 22 -- all of Palmdale.

The California Highway Patrol said Nubani failed to stop at a stop sign about 10:15 p.m. PDT Saturday and his car was struck by the Cadillac, driven by Kirk Pitts, 44, of Littlerock, Calif. Pitts was taken to a hospital for treatment of a broken ankle and fractured femur, the Times said.
