DALLAS, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert says his city will not be home to the College Football Hall of Fame game currently played in South Bend, Ind.
The Dallas Morning News said Leppert confirmed Tuesday that city officials were unwilling to match the substantial cash subsidies offered by Atlanta for the rights to host the annual college competition.
They offered subsidies well in excess of what we were willing to put on the table," Leppert said of the bid that will bring the Hall of Fame game to Atlanta.
"I would love to win everything, but life doesn't work that way," the Dallas mayor added.
Leppert said in July he was attempting to bring the Hall of Fame game to Dallas with help from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach.
The Morning News said Dallas officials offered a piece of Dallas real estate worth nearly $10 million as a bid for the popular college football match.
