Child, 3, youngest U.K. crime suspect

GLASGOW, Scotland, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A 3-year-old boy is the youngest criminal suspect in the United Kingdom as police say the child was suspected of disorder and vandalism.

The Sunday Telegraph said the unidentified 3-year-old in the Scottish region of Strathclyde is part of a family with 10 children that have been accused of various crimes, including sexual offenses.

Strathclyde police visited the family's home this summer to investigate a damage to household property report that was linked to the young child.

The suspect's age made him the youngest crime suspect in the United Kingdom, beating out a 6-year-old boy accused of robbery in June in Bedfordshire County, England.

British Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said the young ages of such offenders were representative of a "broken Britain."

"These instances underline the very deep social problems we have in some parts of the country," Grayling told the Telegraph. "It is part of the very complex picture we call broken Britain."
