WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- The first in a series of public-service announcements calling for volunteerism features Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, the wife of the vice president.

The Entertainment Industry Foundation PSA praises the contributions of military members and asks Americans to help veterans and military families, a Defense Department news release said.

The PSA premiers in major league baseball stadiums and will air on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC in the fall.

"I've made it a personal priority to ask all Americans to join me in the cause of supporting our military families," Obama said in a statement. "We must all remember that when our troops are deployed, their families are left behind with a completely different set of duties."

The PSAs include information about the Web site www.iparticpate.org, which lists volunteer opportunities.
