Grandmother accused of making bomb threat

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A grandmother made a bomb threat to a San Antonio elementary school after being barred from visiting her grandchildren there, authorities allege.

The San Antonio Express-News reported Saturday Velma Gladys Brewster, 51, was accused of making terrorist threats in connection with a bomb threat received by Windcrest Elementary School.

Authorities said in an arrest warrant affidavit that the threat was left on the school's voice-mail system Wednesday night. School administrators, after hearing the message Thursday, alleged the recorded voice was Brewster's.

Police said Brewster was issued a trespass warning Wednesday by the school's principal after the woman attempted to visit her grandchildren at the school without permission from the girls' mother.

The Express-News said the threat was investigated by police after as many as 678 students and 85 school employees were evacuated from the school. No bombs or suspicious devices were found in the building.
