Stray bullet kills Atlanta college student

ATLANTA, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old Spelman College sophomore was shot and killed by a stray bullet early Thursday on the campus of nearby Clark-Atlanta University, police say.

Jasmine Lynn of Kansas City, Mo., was walking across the campus when she was struck in the chest by what police said was an errant round from a group involved in "a physical altercation" in a nearby street, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Her My Space page said she was majoring in psychology and minoring in business.

Atlanta police Lt. Keith Meadows said an 18-year-old student from Clark-Atlanta also was wounded when he was struck in the wrist by a stray bullet.

Meadows said officers had questioned several witnesses but did not have a good description of the shooter.
