WASHINGTON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Republican National Committee head Michael Steele will go to Indiana and Ohio to target healthcare stances of the states' Democratic congressional members.

Plans call for Steele Thursday to visit districts of U.S. Reps. Steve Driehaus, Zack Space and Mary Jo Kilroy, all of Ohio, and Rep. Baron Hill of Indiana, all elected in Republican-leaning districts, the RNC said Wednesday in a release.

The stops in Indiana and Ohio are the latest in a number of events for Steele since July 20, when he gave a speech at the National Press Club on Republicans opposition to healthcare plans being considered by Congress, The Hill said.

The RNC also has spent almost $1 million to publicize the GOP healthcare position, including television ads nationally and in the districts of Democrats targeted by Republicans for the 2010 election.
