WUHAN, China, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Twelve people were dead and one was missing after three days of heavy rain and flooding in central China, authorities said.
The storms damaged land, buildings and roads in 28 counties in Hubei Province and destroyed nearly 7,700 acres of crops, Xinhua, China's state-run news agency reported Sunday.

More than 2,100 people had been relocated as of Saturday, with 1,178 homes reported destroyed and another 5,785 damaged, officials said.
The economic loss to the region had yet to be determined.
