PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Canadian authorities say they searched a property in British Columbia in the ongoing search for a 25-year-old woman.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Friday a rural property in the city of Prince George was searched as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2002 disappearance of Alberta resident Nicole Hoar, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Police confirmed investigators were searching for Hoar's body at the Prince George site.

"The current owners of the property, we have no information to suggest they are associated to this. I can tell you that a previous owner of this property is a person of interest in our investigation," RCMP Cpl. Annie Linteau said.

The CBC said the rural property is near Highway 16, the so-called Highway of Tears. Hoar is one of 18 women who have gone missing along the length of the highway since 1969.

An investigation into the Highway of Tears disappearances began in 2006, but no arrests have been made in the missing person cases.
