SCARSDALE, N.Y., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- An 83-year-old man in Scarsdale, N.Y., says he does not regret his wild chase of an alleged drunk driver who hit his car.

Scarsdale resident Frank Canale said last weekend's wild chase began when he and his daughter, Lori Canale-Smith, 50, were traveling along Interstate 684 on their way to a wedding, The (White Plains, N.Y.) Journal News reported Thursday.

Canale said after a pick-up truck allegedly struck the back of his vehicle and sped away, he pursued it for 15 miles.

Eventually the vehicle arrived at the Danbury, Conn., home of Angel Matailo. Police, who responded to a call from Canale-Smith, arrested Matailo on charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Danbury police Capt. Thomas Wendel alleged Matailo, 35, had a blood alcohol level of more than 0.2 percent -- more than twice the legal limit. Matailo also faces a charge of driving without a license.

"I missed the wedding, but it was worth it to me," Canale told the Journal News. "I wasn't going to let that guy get away. He could have killed someone."
