Will hurricane disrupt Obama's vacation?

MARTHA'S VINYARD, Mass., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama's vacation will likely be disrupted by Hurricane Bill, meteorologists said Friday.

Obama and his family are to arrive this weekend at Martha's Vineyard.

AccuWeather.com reported the center of the hurricane will pass to the east of Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, but those areas will be battered by Bill.

The forecast for Saturday night into Sunday for eastern Massachusetts calls for wind gusts of 30 to 60 mph, strong enough to cause damage.

Waves are expected to build over the weekend, with maximum heights approaching 20 feet in the coastal waters of eastern New England Saturday night into Sunday. The high waves will make for dangerous conditions and could disrupt ferry traffic.

As a result of the hurricane, areas around Cape Cod Bay will likely have some of the worst coastal flooding in New England, AccuWeather said.

Because of the potential disruption of the president's vacation, some forecasters have dubbed the hurricane "Obama-nable Bill."
