CARSON CITY, Nev., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Candidates for governor of Nevada aren't favored by the people who plan to vote in next June's gubernatorial primary, a statewide poll indicates.
The favored contenders in the primary would be U. S. District Judge Brian Sandoval and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman. Sandoval, who announced he is resigning as a judge, is a Republican. Goodman is the Democrats' choice in the poll, but should he decide to run in the primary it would probably be as an independent, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
The Review-Journal polled 400 registered voters. An additional 300 members of each party were also surveyed.
Candidates actually in the race didn't do as well, particularly Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons and Democratic Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid, a son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The poll said Gibbons would lose by double-digits.
The Review-Journal didn't report a margin of error.
