LONDON, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Police say two men more were charged Thursday in the largest jewel robbery in British history, the daylight theft of 43 pieces in fashionable Mayfair.
Solomun Beyene, 24, of London and Craig Calderwood, 26, who has no fixed address, were to appear before a magistrate Friday morning, The Daily Telegraph reported. They face charges of conspiring in the robbery and possession of a handgun.
The Metropolitan Police arrested the men Wednesday. A third man is also in custody, while a fourth man was released on bail last week..
Graff of Mayfair was robbed Aug. 6 by two men who came to the store in a taxi and left in a series of high-end getaway cars. The thieves held the staff at gunpoint while they forced a woman to unlock a display case containing expensive items worth a total of 43 million pounds (more than $70 million).
A reward of 1 million pounds ($1.6 million) has been offered for information in the case.
The robbery is believed to be the second-largest in British history after the 53-million-pound ($87 million) holdup at a depot operated by the security firm Securitas in Kent.
Graff, which specializes in diamonds, has clients who include Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham and Oprah Winfrey.
