Fatal NYC scaffold collapse investigated

NEW YORK, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- New York building inspectors say the site of a fatal scaffolding accident in Brooklyn had 10 previous citations for code violations.

Five of the violations were for work being carried out without a permit at the apartment building where the accident occurred, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

One worker was killed Tuesday and two others were rescued by the fire department when the scaffolding they were on collapsed.

The cause of the collapse was under investigation Wednesday.

Henryk Siebor, 42, Brooklyn, fell five stories to his death. He was a Polish immigrant who regularly sent money home to his family.
