Women tabbed for Cabinet by Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday he will nominate three women for posts in his Cabinet.

CNN reported Ahmadinejad's decision paves the way for more than one female minister to serve in the presidential Cabinet at the same time, which would be a first in Iran.

"There will be some (more) young people and at least another female minister in the Cabinet," the president said Sunday.

Ahmadinejad identified two of three women he would be nominating to Cabinet posts.

Press TV said they Fatemeh Ajorlou for the position of minister of welfare and social security and Marzieh Vahid-Dastjerdi for the country's health minister post.

CNN said Ahmadinejad also nominated Ali Akbar Mehrabian for the post of industries and mining minister and Mohammad Abbasi as minister of cooperatives.

Hojjatoleslam Heidar Moslehi was also tabbed by the president as a nominee for his country's intelligence minister post.
