ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Florida authorities are holding a couple on charges of kidnapping a teenage girl and forcing her to become a prostitute, the department of law enforcement says.
Aleisea N. Smith, 22, and Timothy L. Smith, 39, were ordered held without bail in Orange County after the two-year-old case came to light, the Orlando Sentinel reported Friday.
The teenager told officers a man forced her into a car at gunpoint after she ran away from home.
She said during her 21-days in captivity she was beaten, raped and forced to have sex with more than a dozen men.
The girl's mother eventually located her at the house where she was being kept and called authorities.
Lee Condon of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement says the girl's allegations against the couple illustrate a huge problem confronting teens in the state.
