23 die, 20 hurt in Indian bus crash

CHAMBA, India, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A packed bus plunged into a 300-foot-deep gorge in India Friday, killing 23 passengers and injuring 20 others, authorities said.

Ten of those killed were children.

Government officials ordered an investigation into the cause of the crash, the Press Trust of India reported.

The bus was en route to Chamba from the village of Salooni, and the victims lived near those communities, PTI said.
