JAKARTA, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A man killed in a shootout was not suspected terrorist leader Noordin Top, but a florist suspected of terrorist activities, Indonesian officials said Wednesday.
The dead man was identified through DNA testing as Ibrohim, an employee of a Jakarta florist business, Police Inspector General Nanan Soekarna said.
Investigators believe Ibrohim smuggled bombs into the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels in Jakarta July 17, The Australian reported. His employer supplied flowers to both hotels, and he was able to enter using his job as a cover.
Soekarna said Ibrohim was spotted leaving the Ritz Carlton shortly before the bomb there exploded.
Ibrohim was killed Saturday morning at a house in Temanggung, Central Java. Police surrounded the house after following Top's trail from a safe house.
Top is the most wanted man in southeast Asia. He is believed to have orchestrated terrorist actions for Jemaah Islamiyah, and more recently for a splinter group, going back to the Bali bombings in 2002.
