AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- An 87-year-old woman's family claimed she was left forgotten on a plane in Amsterdam, Netherlands, for over an hour, airport officials said Wednesday.
Radio Netherlands reported KLM flight attendants allegedly forgot the grandmother, Sylvette Landrein, on the plane from Nantes, France, until long after everyone else had disembarked.
"It's absolutely outrageous," Sonja Rein Country, the wheelchair-bound elderly woman's daughter-in-law, said. "My aged mother-in-law was alone in the plane for more than an hour. I inquired at the KLM desk, but was told to be patient."
The family filed a complaint with Air France-KLM in both Nantes and Amsterdam and has received an e-mail in French apologizing for the incident. They say they feel it is not enough, the radio news service reported.
"Research shows that the aircraft was only at Schiphol for 40 minutes," a KLM spokeswoman said.
The airline lost Landrein's suitcase as well, the network said.
