13-year-old girl charged in killing

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A 13-year-old Milwaukee girl has been charged with allegedly killing her grandmother's husband in a fight over a cup of milk, police said.

Labrina Brown was charged as an adult Monday with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Robert Moon, 48, who died Saturday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday.

Brown had poured herself a bowl of cereal, but instead of giving her the last of a bottle of milk, Moon poured it down the sink, police said.

Brown then allegedly stabbed Moon's throat with a paring knife and ran outside telling neighbors and then police she had killed him, police said. Moon died at the scene from a slashed carotid artery, police said.

Wisconsin law mandates that children older than 10 who are charged with first- or second-degree homicide must be charged in adult court, prosecutors said.

Brown's case, however, eventually could be waived back into juvenile court under a law covering children 14 and under charged with crimes, Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm said.
