GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The White House said a wide range of topics will be on the table when President Obama meets with his counterparts from Mexico and Canada in Guadalajara.

Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton told reporters on Air Force One Sunday that Obama has had ongoing and regular contacts with President Felipe Calderon of Mexico and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

"The purpose of this summit is for the president to have an opportunity to speak with his counterparts about issues of mutual concern like H1N1 preparedness, economic competitiveness, security and also global climate change," Burton said. "So tonight they'll have a open and wide-ranging discussion on those topics and probably some other things will come up."

One of those other topics will reportedly be Mexico's drug wars, which officials in Mexico City told The Washington Post would not be ending any time soon, and access to U.S. highways for Mexican truckers.
