OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A Texas man who allegedly confessed to his wife that he kidnapped a 10-year-old girl has been charged in federal court, officials say.

Terrance Lynn McGuire, 27, of Canyon was arrested Friday after being charged in federal court in Oklahoma City with kidnapping for sexual gratification, The Daily Oklahoman reported.

The girl allegedly was abducted In Texhoma, Texas, in January 2007 when McGuire, who owns a weight-scale business, saw her going door to door raising money for a charity

Affidavits filed in the case say McGuire's wife Lacie called FBI agents in June to report he had confessed to kidnapping the girl, taking her to his home in Canyon and forcing her to take off her clothes. The girl was later released physically unharmed in New Mexico, authorities say.

The affidavits say Lacie McGuire later recorded her husband saying, "I can't stop thinking about the little girl. I don't know why I did it. I was tired, driving all the way to Kansas and back to take the state test. You do stupid things when you're tired."

FBI agents say McGuire was recorded saying he thought about killing the girl at one point.
