TOKYO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- There were no immediate reports of damage Sunday from a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in eastern Japan, authorities said.
The quake originated 211 miles under the sea off Tokaido, rattling Tokyo and Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Saitama and Chiba prefectures, Kyodo News reported.

The earthquake measured 4 on a seismic scale of 7 in the center of Tokyo, authorities said. No tsunami warning was issued.
