Boy thrown from roof of moving car dies

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A 17-year-old Southern California boy was killed when he was thrown from the roof of a moving car, authorities said.

Christopher Michael Hernandez II was thrown from the roof of a Nissan Altima Friday night when another 17-year-old, who was driving, made a right turn. Hernandez was thrown to the pavement, Huntington Beach, Calif., police said.

Hernandez was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his head and abdomen. The Orange County Coroner's officer said he died Saturday.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Huntington Beach police were investigating.
