OXON HILL, Md., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- One person was killed and three others wounded Tuesday in a shooting in an Oxon Hill, Md., apartment building, police said.

One man was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while another man was hospitalized in critical condition, The Washington Post reported.

Two women received injures that were not considered life-threatening, Prince George's County police spokesman Mike Rodriguez said.

The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. in a stairwell in the apartment building and apparently involved people who all knew each other, witnesses told police.

No further information was immediately available, police said.
