Propane tank blast injures one in Wash.

CLE ELUM, Wash., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- One person suffered unspecified injuries when a propane tank exploded at a senior center in Cle Elum, Wash., authorities say.

Richelle Risdon, a representative for Kittatas County Fire District 7, said Saturday night's blast at the Cle Elum Senior Center forced an immediate evacuation of up to 100 people in the building, Seattle's KOMO-TV reported Sunday.

"And about 7 minutes after they did so safely, the roof started to collapse. And everybody was able to get out safely," Risdon said.

The explosion occurred after flames from a grease fire at the center burned through a hose and reached a propane tank, authorities said.

KOMO said in addition to the single injured blast victim, a firefighter battling the blaze was forced to seek medical attention for heat exhaustion.
