Indian minister to visit Australia

NEW DELHI, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- The Indian minister for external affairs will visit Australia to look into alleged racial attacks and discuss them with Australian leaders, the government said.

S.M. Krishna plans to be in Australia from Thursday to Aug. 10, Press Trust of India reported. His itinerary includes the two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne, where he plans to meet with leaders of the Indian community and students.

Krishna will also meet with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and attend a meeting of the 16-nation Pacific Island Forum in Cairns. Leaders are expected to discuss climate change and the global economic crisis as well as regional issues.
