Woman upset over wrongful arrest in Fla.

ORLANDO, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- A woman in Orange County, Fla., says she was upset when she was arrested by police who had confused her with a suspected prostitute.

Linda Norris of Apopka, Fla., said she was confused when she was arrested in front of her daughter and booked into Orange County Jail this month, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Tuesday.

"I was just really freaking out. I was upset," Norris said. "My daughter was crying; I was crying. I just couldn't believe it."

The ages of Norris and her daughter were not reported.

County jail officials acknowledge Norris was mistakenly arrested on a warrant intended for suspected prostitute Colleen Wehunt, who once used the name Linda Norris as an alias while being arrested, the report said.

The real Norris had been renting rooms at the same location at the time of the 1993 arrest and Norris said she suspects Wehunt managed to steal her driver's license to confirm her alias.

"I didn't know her, hang out with her or anything," Norris said. "But she was living there; I was living there. So, I'm thinking somehow she got my wallet or my information that way."

WKMG said Norris was released after nearly five hours thanks to a fingerprint analysis during the July arrest.
