Dashboard camera hints at cop cover-up

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- Four Hollywood, Fla., police officers are on administrative leave while authorities investigate whether they doctored an accident report, officials say.

The case involves an incident last February when a Hollywood police officer rear-ended a car and then arrested the female driver for drunken driving and improper lane change, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

The newspaper says a dashboard camera in one of the patrol cars recorded an exchange between the arresting officer and other officers about how to report the accident.

"I don't want to make things up ever, because it's wrong, but if I need to bend it a little bit to protect a cop, I'm gonna," one of the officers can be heard saying on the video. "We'll do a little Walt Disney to protect the cop because it wouldn't have mattered because she is drunk anyway."

The report said the woman changed lanes abruptly because a cat on her lap jumped out of the car.
