Police: Knife-wielding woman threatens boy

VALLEGO, Calif., July 27 (UPI) -- Police in Vallejo, Calif., allege a 47-year-old woman threatened a 7-year-old boy with a steak knife at a local grocery store.

Vallejo police Lt. Lee Horton said the woman, identified as Vallejo resident Dana Stevenson, allegedly grabbed the boy, whose identity was not reported, and put him in a choke hold while ranting about singer Michael Jackson and the Chinese mafia, the San Francisco Chronicle said Monday.

Horton said Stevenson allegedly dragged the boy along the produce aisle of the Grocery Outlet store on Saturday before being grabbed by the child's father.

Police allege the boy's father and mother were able to free their son while struggling with Stevenson although the mother received a laceration to her palm during the conflict.

The Chronicle said Stevenson was arrested and charged with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and suspicion of felony child endangerment.

The boy at the center of the incident only suffered abrasions due to the incident, Horton said.
