PARIS, July 26 (UPI) -- French President Nicholas Sarkozy is resting after being hospitalized in Paris following a bout of illness while jogging, the presidential office said Sunday.
The president's office said in a statement that initial tests on Sarkozy in the wake of the jogging incident showed nothing abnormal, but the president's heart will continue to be monitored as per standard policy, CNN reported.
The office said Sarkozy had been jogging with his bodyguards for nearly 45 minutes on Sunday when the 54-year-old head of state began feeling ill.
Sarkozy was promptly treated by an Elysee Palace doctor, before being transported via helicopter to the Val-de-Grace military hospital, the office said.
The office maintained the president and his advisers are in touch following the incident.
CNN said Sarkozy is an avid jogger who is routinely seen jogging alongside his bodyguards.
